Dr. GuanQun (Leo) Liu
GuanQun (Leo) Liu received his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, where he studied host responses to bacterial and viral infections. During his Ph.D. program in Dr. Yan Zhou’s laboratory at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac), he focused on the innate immune sensing mechanism of influenza A virus with an emphasis on RIG-I. He had characterized the viral ligands that contribute to RIG-I activation and identified nuclear-resident RIG-I actively sensing influenza virus replication. Leo Joined the Gack laboratory as a postdoctoral scholar in February 2019 where he is investigating novel host factors regulating innate immune responses against viral infections.
